Job Description: Educator/CS Trainer

JOB SUMMARY
The SPD Sr. Educator will collaborate with leadership to plan, coordinate, develop, revise, implement educational programs, and other related materials needed. The Sr. Educator is responsible for planning, developing tools, and maintaining education records. He/she must maintain a pass rate average of 80%.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assess and modify education programs as needed for standardization to meet SIPS educational needs
- Develop new clinical education programs, ensuring applicable certification and recertification requirements are met
- Collaborates with consultants, leadership teams, and governing boards to provide evidenced-based simulation/educational experiences for medical students and SIPS staff
- Conduct classes, document program effectiveness, and satisfaction
- Ensures that records, attendance logs, and other educational documentation are accurate and completed in a timely manner
- Conduct literature searches, analyze and summarize relevant material
- Compile, post, and display educational material and supportive documents to enhance teaching sessions
- Maintain current standards and techniques, as required by the employer
- Responsible for adherence of quality control on all sterilizers (i.e. biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring) according to the standards set by: Joint Commission, AORN, and AAMI.
- Have knowledge of and stay in compliance with applicable infection control policies and procedures
- Determine measurable goals and objectives for educational programs
- Organize and conduct educational seminars and formal training
- Collaborate with vendors to coordinate and promote educational events
- Work with vendors to maintain supplies for lab training
- Provide support to participants, employees, and customers
- Respond to inquiries within 24 hours
- Document and submit reports to the Project Director
- Travel as needed to assist or fill in for assessments or consulting services
- Perform related duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Current CRCST certification
- Five (5) years of manager and/or education experience
- Possess great communication skills
- Act in a friendly and courteous manner
- Work in a cooperative manner
- Ability to assess, and identify educational needs
- Thorough knowledge of the operation of instruments and equipment in the department
- Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique principles and ability to apply such principles when orienting staff at hospitals
PREFERRED
- Associate in Business or Healthcare
- 5 years or more of Sterile Processing Educational experience
- Certified Surgical Technician
