Summary:
The RF Field Specialist will provide support for the engineering team for all aspects of design projects including, but not limited to, RF surveys, design support, creation of floor plans, pre and post data collection, CW testing, drive testing, MPE studies, post processing, creation of activation reports, and assist engineering teams in any other job functions as necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Primarily operating out of the New England market area and travel to NY and PA market is expected.
  • Occasional work outside of normal daytime hours is expected.
  • Work closely with and support SAI Engineering, Technical Services and Construction teams.
  • When available, attend relevant training courses.
  • Prepares drive/walk routes for site/carrier integrations, system RF baseline, and performance data collection needs.
  • Performs RF surveys and data collection for new site integrations, carrier additions, construction modifications, and optimization for the analysis of RF performance.
  • Creation of floor plans utilizing Microsoft Visio to accurately depict head end/IDF closet layouts
  • Post process and assist in the analysis of RF drive/walk test data, prepares closeout files, submits final product to customers, and maintains site folders.
  • Modify floor plans using Adobe Photoshop or similar software to prepare for site walks as necessary.
  • Utilize iBwave software to aid RF Engineering in regards to modeling/importing data or any other tasks as necessary.
  • Aid in the Continuous Wave (CW) transmitter setup and walk/drive testing needed for RF simulations.
  • Perform site RF Exposure/MPE studies, evaluating RF levels generated by wireless transmitter sites, compare the exposure levels to the FCC limits, advise clients on required controls to access areas which exceed the FCC limits, and document the exposure levels and access controls.
  • Support the assembly of RF exposure reports, scopes of work to mitigate RF exposure, and the implementation of remediation solutions.
  • Support the assembly of activation reports, compiling and organizing all data available, and submitting to teams for review.
  • Quickly learn and retain relevant system knowledge through applied learning, reading of standards documents or other documentation, and review of test plan documents.
  • Assist Engineering in other job functions as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of electromagnetic theory, antenna theory, and radio propagation.
  • Good computer skills including MS Office, Visio, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Photoshop.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with the following (or similar) tools:
    • Enhancell Echo Studio
    • Anite Nemo Windcatcher
    • Enhancell Echo Plus/ One
    • Legacy ZK Cell test
    • iBwave
  • Knowledge of operating systems and setups of Android phones/tablets to support data collection utilizing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, CDMA, UMTS, and LTE technologies.
  • Ability to use RF collection devices while walking and being aware of surroundings to avoid hazards.
  • Ability to understand and navigate through venues with complex floor plans to maximize efficiency while on site.
  • Good communication, organization, and coordination skills desired.
  • Willing to work days/nights and extended hours working under strict project timelines.
  • Lifting, extensive walking, and rooftop collection required.
  • Excellent driving record and travel required.
