We are seeking an experienced full-time CAD Designer for our civil engineering firm to support our Civil Engineering department in our Indianapolis office.

The CAD Designer will work in a team environment. Under supervision of a Project Engineer, a CAD Designer will use Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) software to assist in the development of plans, details, and bills of materials. The CAD Designer will also be utilized for initial layout of basic horizontal and vertical geometry, roadway and structure layout, basic design computations, and quantity calculations. The CAD Designer could help assist, guide, and train CAD Technicians. More experienced CAD Designers would also be relied upon to create 3D models of the design and to create cross sections from the model.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Possess skills to modify and maintain CADD files.
An understanding of construction plans for highway and/or bridges.
Understanding of models, sheets, dimensioning, and annotating.
Possess geometric and algebraic problem-solving ability.
Possess excellent time management and time recording skills.
Ability to complete multiple projects within established schedules.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to assist, guide, and train less experienced Technicians.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency
Associates Degree in CADD or related program preferred, but not required
Minimum 3 years of road and/or bridge CAD drafting experience.
Minimum 3 years of direct experience with INDOT and/or ODOT standards and design procedures, specific to roadway and bridge projects.
Proficient in MicroStation
Experience with GEOPAK/InRoads/OpenRoads Designer highly preferred
