PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY
Permanency Director - the position is responsible for directing and developing unit supervisors, designing local procedures, policies, and practice standards to enhance service delivery and works with the local County Child Welfare Boards. The position interacts routinely with Texas Dept. of Family and Protective Services staff, other agencies in the community, other community boards, judges, schools, law enforcement and the public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs, plans, implements and monitors assigned initiatives and programs to ensure effective and efficient program operation.
- Reviews and approves child placement casework decisions, when requested by the client or others to ensure decisions are appropriate and consistent with policies and procedures.
- Selects, manages, and develops staff through review of performance data, conferences, training, and performance appraisal.
- Plans, promotes, and encourages the professional growth and development of management and service delivery personnel.
- Works effectively with staff, community groups, other agencies, media, and local government officials
- Addresses and attempts to resolve client, community, and staff concerns and issues regarding individual cases and operating procedures.
- Evaluates agency and community needs and develops resources to enhance program operations.
- Oversees and supervises Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program according to the DTFA model standards.
- Reviews and approves adoption packets prior to submitting for reimbursement.
- Serves as the P.U.S.H Coordinator and works in collaboration with DFPS to complete the monthly PUSH report.
- Monitors TARE compliance and provides monthly updates as required to DFPS
- Monitors the TAP website and ensures information is accurate and up to date.
- Works routinely with the Director of Communications to showcase youth for adoption.
- Coordinates and monitors the Tuesday Treasure Broadcast.
- Ensures proper oversight of court reports and court attendance by adoption supervisors.
- Ensures all case decisions are focused on child safety, permanency and well-being.
- Reviews and provides consultation on complex, sensitive high-profile cases, and staff issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations.
- Promotes, monitors, and ensures that respect is demonstrated for cultural diversity.
- Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.
Knowledgeable/Skills

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child welfare or related field
- 5 years experience with child-placing experience as a worker or above in a private or state agency
Preferred:
- Masters degree in child welfare or related field
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
- 5 years experience with child welfare/supervisory experience

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach.
- Stamina to work long days and drive long distances.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 15 pounds unassisted.
- Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with or without hearing aids).
- Must have the ability to read fine print, have sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with or without glasses).
- Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of children with moderate to severe emotional and psychological needs.
- Minimum of 40 hours per week but may necessitate additional time in order to complete assigned work, which would include evenings and weekends.
- Home-like settings with varying moderate to high degrees of background noise.
- Light and ventilation are found in a typical home setting.
- Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas.
- Possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed (Hepatitis B inoculation available per request).
- Possible injury when lifting or moving if employee fails to use proper body mechanics, or if proper techniques are not used.
