Plant Operator
Skagit Farmers Supply, a local cooperative since 1934 serves farmers, homeowners, businesses, families and the communities of Skagit, Whatcom, Island, San Juan and Snohomish Counties.
The agronomy division works with customers to improve crop production, manage costs and increase yields. The company offers a full range of products and services in support of organic & conventional agriculture. These include crop protection products, dry and liquid fertilizer, turf and ornamental products, seed, custom application services, corn planting, crop burning and side dressing.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Participate in the regular maintenance of facilities, forklifts, delivery vehicles and other equipment
- Reconcile and transfer inventory, investigating discrepancies as needed
- Inspect and deliver products to customers
- Safely operate equipment
- Prepare (blend) fertilizer for application or customer delivery
- Dispatch and track vehicles & equipment
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and equipment while adhering to OSHA, state and federal safety regulations
- Exhibit an ability to get along with others
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment (includes testing for marijuana/THC)
- Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record
- Commitment to excellence and high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull 60-pound weight requirements
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to follow directions verbally, written and on maps
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience safely operating a forklifts or agricultural equipment
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse operations or logistics
- Knowledge in local crops, crop nutrients, chemicals and commercial farming operations
- Possess a Class A or B CDL or be able to obtain one within a pre-specified period of time
SCHEDULE
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position (schedule may vary). Employees will be expected to work primarily Monday through Friday with some weekends required. In times of high seasonal demand, hours to be worked may exceed 40 hours per week.
