Summary:

The primary function of the manufacturing Programmer position is the efficient set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC machining centers. In this position, you will be expected to ensure that the proper machining techniques are followed. You will have the opportunity to perform first piece inspection and record succeeding pieces, (per prescribed inspection plan for conformance), to specification. You will be using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance. You will ensure that acceptable levels of quality and productivity are met within established parameters in a safe and effective manner.


Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Follow all established company procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment and identify any unsafe conditions.
  • Read process drawings (blueprints), geometric dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering and quality specifications.
  • Start up and shut down a variety of machine(s).
  • Set up and operate new and existing programs on CNC Mills (up to Full 5 Axis).
  • Perform machining operations: turning, boring, milling, drilling and facing of castings and forgings.
  • Perform machining operations on parts with high levels of complexity.
  • Select part specific tooling and install part specific work holding.
  • Ensure machining operations are performed within established parameters.
  • Minimize scrap and rework with acceptable levels of output.
  • Make the necessary adjustments to override machine control and correct machine performance.
  • Perform first piece inspection and record succeeding pieces to specification.
  • Use shop math and precision (micrometers, precision dial gauges etc.) measuring instruments to verify conformance of pieces.
  • Document the data on the process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speed of machining cuts.
  • Define raw material purchases for machining of components.
  • Define work instructions for new cell complete component machining.
  • Perform continuous improvement (lean) activities as may be assigned or required.
  • Due to nature of the products produced, candidates must be local contract only open to US citizen.


Physical Requirements:

  • Physically mobile and able safely operate heavy machinery, ability to perform routine and heavy tasks.
  • Stand, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, and safely run all machines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds with full mobility.


Requirements:

  • Two (2) year technical degree in manufacturing technology preferred.
  • One (1) to three (3) years machining experience in precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced in reading process drawings (blueprints), geometric dimensions/tolerances, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience using shop math and precision (micrometers, precision dial gauges etc.) measuring instruments.
  • Thorough knowledge of CNC machine operation, tool offsetting, work holding, and basic machine code.
  • A high degree of computer literacy is required.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid and clear driver's license may be required for travel purposes.


Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • Able to read, write, and understand technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with G & M code and other CAD/CAM programs.
  • Familiarity with programming Mazak and DMG Mori machinery.
  • Self-starter with the ability to effectively lead and interact with all various levels of the organization.
