Summary:
The SKF Lubrication Business Unit, headquartered in St. Louis, is a leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of highly engineered automatic lubrication systems as well as lubrication tools and equipment. The SKF Group is the leading global manufacturer and supplier of rolling bearing related products, solutions, and services, such as bearings, seals, lubrication systems, analytical and maintenance services. As the Inspector, you will perform diversified work including all duties and functions necessary to ensure product quality meets customer expectations. You will use all types of measuring tools and equipment to judge product conformance to specification. You will be expected to know the components of calibration procedures and be able to use common calibration methods, both manual and automated. This is a Union position, (UAW).
Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Read and interpret blueprints including GD&T and X,Y,Z coordinate system.
- Operate material handling equipment.
- Visual inspection of parts for cracks or other defects.
- Describe and interpret calibration certificates, labels, and reports.
- Identify and report nonconforming material.
- Investigation and rectification of material which does not meet specification.
- Manage records and maintain document control systems.
- Utilize gages to inspect part quality, such as: Micrometer, Caliper, Thread rings, thread plugs, Profilometer,
- Spring tester, comparator, scales, CMM, and all other gages needed to confirm conformance to specification.
- Utilize inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size, pull random samples.
- Report unsatisfactory work to management and make reports of the same.
- Perform first and last piece inspections judging conformance.
- Suggest improvements in processes, procedures, and inspection methods.
- Perform process and product audits.
- Administer gage calibration system including the calibration of gages, recording of calibrations, and scheduling of work.
- Set and issue gages to production. Perform inspection related documentation and transactions utilizing a computer.
- Process reclaims items, preparing necessary reports, and maintaining appropriate records.
- Use good judgment when accepting or refusing reclamation materials.
- Inspect, sort, pack, label, repackage, and relabel products.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
Working Conditions:
- Good working conditions in a general manufacturing environment.
- Incumbent will be subject to noise, lifting, and walking.
- Be able to use common calibration methods, both manual and automated.
Job Requirements:
- Skilled in basic statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data and how to recognize out of control conditions.
- Experience with reading blueprints including GD&T and X,Y,Z coordinate system.
- Must have strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions.
- Experienced with using gages to inspect part quality, such as: Micrometer, Caliper, Thread rings, thread plugs, Profilometer, Spring tester, comparator, scales, CMM, and all other gages needed to confirm conformance to specification.
- Experience with test methods and company products.
- Experience with inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size, pull random samples.
- Proficient Knowledge of the components of calibration procedures.
