Description:
This position is responsible for developing, coordinating administering, and supervising the site’s Quality Assurance program, ensuring that quality assurance procedures and policies are coordinated throughout the organization. Assures that all products manufactured meet customer specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Directs and coordinates the overall quality specifications, standards, inspection and testing procedures for raw materials, processes, and finished products.
- Review quality control plans or process control procedures that will ensure production of finished products, which meet quality specifications and standards and that all incoming material meets standards.
- Reviews all complaints received from customers to determine if or where quality assurance emphasis should be placed to eliminate problems.
- Reviews research on product defects and recommends modifications in products or quality standard where warranted.
- Directs AS9100 activities and associated programs flowed down from Aerospace Business unit. Ensuring that all QMS requirements are established and met. Ensures AS9100 certification are maintained.
- Directs customer specific audits and coordinates any on-site customer source inspection.
- Assists research and development and other departments as necessary in formulating new products or in establishing standards for these products prior to initial production.
- Provides technical assistance to the Purchasing Department in connection with the purchase of raw materials, supplies and equipment.
- Contacts and/or visits customers and suppliers when necessary to confer on specific quality problems. May police subcontractors’ quality assurance programs. Assists suppliers in establishing inspection standards to meet the company’s quality requirements. Work with Aerospace Business Supplier Quality Group with said activities.
- Supplies technical assistance to the sales functions in developing suitable products for customers or overcoming difficulties in the use of company products.
- Directs the continuing review of the quality assurance program and the formulation of new or revised procedures to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
- Ensures compliance with government regulations.
- Formulates department objectives, directs staff activities to meet Aerospace Business Unit objectives; ensures that all department personnel are trained to perform their jobs effectively.
- Administers Quality Assurance Department budget preparation; assure compliance and other administrative functions to affect a well-integrated, efficient operation.
- Responsible for procuring state of the art gauging keeping the Plant current with technology changes.
- Responsible for directing the quality assurance and final inspection and assembly personnel.
Requirements:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Math or related technical field or the equivalent in practical experience and specialized training.
- Ten (10) years overall experience in manufacturing (emphasis in rubber a plus), with direct experiences in inspection and quality assurance six (6) including at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
- Must have broad and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, quality assurance, technology, and computer literate.
- Ability to relate and interact effectively with various levels of the organization and customers.
- Ability to move freely around the facility. Some travel required. (approx. 10%)
