Alongside your multi-disciplinary team, you will provide architectural insights as you work on some of our most strategic, complex, and highly valued initiatives. You will partner with executives and stakeholders to develop strategies, plan, design, iterate, and enable consumer-grade digital solutions that interoperate across myriad devices, channels, products, and platforms.
The Solution Architect role is central to the creation, implementation, and continuous evolution of SKF’s digital transformation strategy which connects business and technical leadership in support of using digital solutions to reduce cost, enhances speed, reduces errors, discovers new opportunities, and facilitates innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with functional and business team members, project management, enterprise architects, system engineers, and application developers to design and develop mission critical solutions based on approved architecture and business requirements.
- Ensure solutions are well-engineered, optimized, operable, and maintainable while also ensuring adherence to defined project management policies, change management guidelines, Cyber security requirements and software quality assurance processes.
- Leads research initiatives of existing business environment including trends, best practices and organization preferred architectural frameworks to ensure organization services match business trends.
- Suggests appropriate upgrades or relevant solutions to enhance organization competency in meeting changing business needs.
- Stay current with industry trends and market problems identify opportunity to improve systems or create new solutions that support business processes utilizing emerging technologies.
- Demonstrate innovation when designing solutions and solving complex IT and business problems.
- Establishment and communication of recommended architecture strategies and long-term technology roadmaps to guide investment decisions, identify standard technologies and appropriately map.
- Ensures best practices are followed in areas such as Data modeling, Service Orientated Architecture, Application Performance, Cloud Architecture, Security, etc.
- Lead digital architecture and technical discussions providing thought leadership.
- Comfortable working independently and hands-on to prototype and evaluate custom and third-party solutions for fit within the organization with the ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical leaders.
- Act in a mentoring capacity to support the career development of junior architects and other colleagues.
Technical Qualifications:
- Strong background in SDLC, distributed systems programming, solution pipeline build, data engineering technologies, API Integration, and Microservices.
- Experience in cloud technology, implementation, application architecture and security of newly designed systems as well as legacy within a cloud environment.
- Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems, product-line hardware and software.
- Modern web development techniques and platforms.
- Examples may be AngularJS, Spring, Bootstrap, Responsive UI and/or comparable.
- Deep knowledge of well-architected frameworks and experience designing platforms/systems for optimal performance, business continuity, compliance with security and privacy standards.
Strategic & Analytical Qualifications:
- Ability to think broadly about end-to-end business goals and technical solutions.
- Ability to go beyond just fixing to identify root causes, evaluate optimal solutions, and recommend comprehensive upgrades to prevent future issues.
- Identify upcoming opportunities or threats through industry trend analysis.
- Contribute strategic thinking to long-range planning.
- Able to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it.
Communication & Presentation Qualifications:
- Able to effectively communicate and present complex concepts to technical and non-technical professionals.
- Able to communicate recommendations and direction as outcome of internal or external engagement.
- Be willing to help solve problems by listening and connecting people across teams, helping them find common solutions.
- Demonstrate communication skills in the English language via electronic communications and in-person .
General Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in business administration, computer science, information technology or related field.
- 10 years of solution architecture, system architecture, enterprise architecture or leading technical teams.
- Prior experience working in a mentorship, leadership, or senior role.
- Experience working with company products and services, business processes and re-engineering.
- Solid understanding and experience working with key trends in but not limited to software engineering, cloud architecture, data engineering, machine learning, third party integration.
- Articulate issues, plans, risks, etc. in a way that facilitates timely decision making.
