The Aerospace Business Unit is responsible for Aerospace applications with a global responsibility for Sales, Manufacturing, Business development, Product and Process Development. The Business Unit operates in a large number of countries and markets, all over the world and with a customer portfolio that includes all major players in the Aerospace industry. Our business is fully customer focused, with products specifically designed for an engine / airframe application and then produced in small quantities and small lots on highly flexible equipment. Extreme product range fragmentation, complex product design, very high-quality standards and traceability requirements are the peculiarity of our Business Unit. In Hanover, PA we produce Rings and Seals for the Aerospace and Industrial markets.
Role Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Setup and operate and make adjustment to carbon shop machines.
- Perform operations such as face groove, undercut, bore groove, axial groove, cut segments, attach, adjust, fit, bolt, deburr, scrape, file, etc., tear down old set up, clean machine table.
- Put clean new fixtures in locating pocket in front and back row on machine table. Bolt down fixtures and tram in. Load program from DNC. Transfer program to main memory and name.
- Set gages or measuring instruments* required to check work. Use prepared programs and instructions.
- Edit programs as needed due to part variations. As necessary use hand tools and equipment to fit, assemble and test seals. Gather and assemble seal components into sets.
- Work from prints, sketches, and process sheets, verbal, or written instructions.
- Maintain paperwork, clean, apply coatings, wrap, package, and transport items as needed.
- Maintain work area in a neat, safe, clean, and orderly fashion. Notify supervision of difficulties or problems.
- Follow 5-S guidelines and standards.
- Follow all safety procedures.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Requires continuous attention to operations.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexibility with work hours during training period. NOTE: After training position will be scheduled for 2nd or 3rd shift.
- Ability to stand for 8-hours per day, 5-days per week.
- Ability to life 35-pounds (anything over 35-pounds will use lift assist or team lift).
- Knowledge of and able to read and understand blueprints preferred.
- Knowledge of measurement equipment such as gauges and mics.
- Able to effectively work in an environment requiring independent judgment, and self-motivation with customer focus.
- Refers to supervisor for clarification of priorities, objectives, or policies.
- All hourly employees will be part of the United Steelworkers Union (USW).
