Overview:
The Store Manager is responsible to engage with and influence a cohesive team that delivers a world-class customer experience. They collaborate with Category Team, Senior Leaders, and company-wide experts to plan, prioritize and manage the execution of work. They are accountable to develop and deliver operational excellence. Store managers advocate for sustaining our environment and supporting our outdoor communities.
Job Responsibilities

- Sets goals and manages the execution of daily priorities, functions, and productivity of employees.
- Supports the hiring process by participating in the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and retention of employees.
- Plans and prepares effective schedules that ensure a world-class customer experience.
- Builds a dynamic team of people with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and expertise to drive store performance.
- Promotes a culture of achievement and accountability through ongoing goal setting, observation, and evaluation of employee performance.
- Provides timely and constructive feedback to support staff growth and development where additional work is needed.
- Plans executes, and documents quarterly check-ins with employees, in collaboration with the Retail Director.
- Continually seeks to grow and improve on how they lead and influence the company and teams they serve, using internal and external resources.
- Leads and supports staff to build a strong and loyal customer base through professional excellence.
- Using the tools and systems takes responsibility for ensuring the company resolves all customer issues quickly and successfully
- Supports and monitors warranty processes and product performance issues so the company properly communicates with and resolves customer issues promptly with accuracy.
- Supports our rental and lease programs so that customer expectations are met, and the programs run efficiently and profitably.
- Collaborates with Category Team to set and uphold high standards for the organization and maintenance of all inventory back stock.
- Takes initiative to develop, coordinate and implement efficient operational practices in collaboration with the Retail Director, and identified stakeholders.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication across all departments.
- Directly supports the Inventory Team in the daily accuracy of all retail activities including the execution of Web Fulfillment, Receiving, and Cycle Counts as needed.
- Works with the Retail Director and identified stakeholders to plan and execute all seasonal transitions.
- Provides Category Team with staff and customer input to provide recommendations on product assortment, performance, and inventory levels.
- Collaborates with the Category Team, Retail Merchandiser, and Retail Director to create and execute merchandising plans that deliver consistently appealing product presentations.
- Builds a team committed to our strategic partnerships and programs that benefit the outdoor communities we serve.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all opening/closing procedures, cash management, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Responsible for store security and loss prevention (LP) practices. Ensure staff learns and practices LP strategies to control internal and external shrink.
- Ensures the company as a whole, embraces high cleanliness standards in the store, restrooms, employee break room, parking lot, and immediate grounds at all times.
- Builds safety consciousness and accountability in all company practices and locations, ensuring the store is OSHA/VOSHA compliant at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with a track record of managing and building effective teams (outdoor retail industry experience preferred).
- Possesses retail business knowledge and expertise to report on and communicate financial results.
- Ability to multitask, coordinate projects, execute plans & work well within a team.
- Experienced with retail operations inclusive of product training and visual merchandising.
- Demonstrated skill to build systems and tools to ensure timely responsiveness to requests and that deadlines are met.
- Receptive to feedback and willingness to be coached.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, G Suite, and other relevant software.
- Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and peak business periods.
- Travel: 10% or as required: for store visits, trade shows, events, and other professional development opportunities.
- Able to lift 30 pounds.
