What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Skillforce Inc.?
We are in need of experienced Heavy Equipment Operators who are capable of operating large equipment (i.e., mini excavator and skid steer).
The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates a variety of equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of large site jobs.
Heavy Equipment Operator Essential Functions:
- Must keep building and/or assigned areas of jobsite clean and organized as necessary to maintain a safe and productive working environment.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman/General Superintendent, Safety Director or HR manager.
- Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
- Assists in training new employees performing the maintenance and repair duties as required or assigned
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce Safety procedures
- Ability to travel as needed (typically less than 10% of the time)
- 5 years or greater experience with effectively operating heavy construction equipment
- Capable of climbing a ladder, reaching overhead, bending, pulling on wrenches, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to work outside in all types of weather
- Ability to work extended or overtime hours as needed
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Works well as part of a team.
- Clean driving record
- Certified in Skid Steer
- Certified in Mini Excavator
