Position Description Application Developer (.NET Core Full Stack) Supervisor: Director of Administrative Computing Department: Administrative Computing Status: Full-time FLSA: Non-exempt Position Goal: The Application Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting the college s custom development and integration projects. The Application Developer will be responsible for, architecture design/development, database design/development and all other aspects of backend and frontend development. The Application Developer is responsible for researching and implementing web/software development technologies to further Galen s strategic initiatives. The Application Developer works closely with the Director of Administrative Computing to ensure development efforts meet requirements of the end-user. The Application Developer with the Galen Center for Professional Development, a sister company of Galen College of Nursing. Position Responsibilities 1. Back-end development for Galen College and Galen Center for Professional Development. 2. Responsible for architecture design/development, database design/development and backend development. 3. Research and implement innovative web/software development technologies. 4. Maintain awareness of competencies in new development technologies. 5. Responsible for upgrading/migrating/maintaining web systems as needed. 6. Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to web applications. Some Tier 1 necessary. 7. Prioritize product development tasks and simultaneously manage multiple projects. 8. Create and maintain disaster recovery protocols. 9. Create training and documentation to support development and code-base. As needed, provide technical knowledge to other department members to facilitate service while on vacation or unavailable. 10. Work with Product Managers/Owners and Designers to ensure the development meets the requirements of the client. 11. Assist with other web maintenance operations and projects as needed. 12. Participate as a team member in support of Galen values. 13. Maintain a positive work environment that supports quality programming in the achievement of program outcomes. 14. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Education: Associate s degree; bachelor s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3 5 years web/software development experience required. Previous information technology experience in higher education desired. Server-side experience required including, but not limited to, .Net Core (C#) and PHP. Frontend experience with Angular desired. Experience with Salesforce APEX desired. Special Qualifications: Database tools knowledge required. Working knowledge of front-end web development (CSS, JavaScript, HTML5) desired. Client-side framework experience desired (Angular, JQUERY, etc.). Knowledge of application development management tools such as GitHUB, BaseCamp, etc. desired. Knowledge in web organization/structuring/security/e-commerce desired. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must have excellent interpersonal, written, oral and technical skills. Must be able to communicate technical matters to a non-technical audience. Must be highly organized with ability to work in a team environment, multitask, and prioritize projects. Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be available outside of normal business hours to address critical technical issues. Degree of Supervision: Minimal.
