JOB SUMMARY:

The Banquet Manager oversees the catering operations of Sky Ute Casino Resort, directly managing the Banquet Coordinators and Event Staff. The Banquet Manager works in collaboration with the Catering Sales Team and the Executive Chef to ensure the success of all events. The Banquet Manager oversees client events and relations, manages a collaborative team, and maintains vendor relations. The Banquet Manager maintains a thorough knowledge of Sky Ute Casino Resort and all its’ grounds, products, services, and has an awareness of other roles and responsibilities throughout the organization. The Banquet Manager provides a consistent product and experience, achieving revenue targets, managing costs, and ensures all Event Staff are focused and demonstrating a Guest Centric attitude d culture. In addition to maintaining our vision by adhering to our values, this position must provide the highest level of service to our guests. The Banquet Manager Reports Directly to the Food and Beverage Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.     In collaboration with Catering Sales and Food & Beverage teams, assist in the planning of events for clients which could include the design of the facility/room/venue layout and appearance, types of seating, entertainment and decorations, determine all event needs such as podiums, dance floors or audio/visual equipment

2.     Will be available to clients at all times prior to, during, or after an event. This means being out on the floor and easily visible and prepared to alleviate questions/concerns and provide excellent client service.

3.     Participate in meetings with the Banquet Chef and/or Executive Chef to review menu requests.

4.     Understand and be able to communicate catering menu details and pricing.

5.     Lead a team in providing exceptional guest services in preparation, during, and following events.

6.     Responsible for interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating the performance of the Banquet Staff.

7.     Supervise and assist with the setup of function rooms according to event order specifications This includes disciplinary actions and terminations when necessary.

8.     Visually inspect function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness and accuracy of setup.

9.     Review, maintain, and stay up to date with upcoming events by communicating regularly with Catering Sales, including sharing contracts, Banquet Event Orders (BEO), and kitchen details with Catering team to ensure they have all necessary information to guarantee a successful event.

10.  Ensure that billing is complete and processed in a timely manner.

11.  Order all beverages, including alcohol for events and maintain budget and inventory for all beverage purchases per event. Complete monthly inventory.

12.  Order linens and necessary supplies for service for all events and keep in contact with all vendors.

13.  Supervise the staging of meeting spaces, food services, and special events to ensure that the Banquet department is meeting client and contractual expectations per the Banquet Event Orders. This includes assisting Banquet Coordinators to ensure proper pull sheets.

14.  Oversee the clearing and cleanup of all venues, and any related duties.

15.  Graciously and quickly manage any employee or client issues and report any issues to the Director of Food & Beverage.

16.  In collaboration with the Director of Food & Beverage, develop and manage staffing plans and create team schedules.

17.  Engage and/or take a lead in regular, consistent meetings with employees, including one-to-one’s, daily huddles, team meetings, and department meetings.

18.  Oversee and implement employee training and development adhering to Sky Ute Casino’s food and beverage objectives, obtaining employee satisfaction standards and high-quality guest experiences.

19.  Ensure cleanliness of events and maintain specified standards by passing Health Department audits, and training staff on proper sanitation and safety guidelines.

20.  Responsible for employees adhering to all State of Colorado Food Service Codes, accurate cash handling, proper management of banks and tills, and ensuring proper accounting and reconciliation of the Point of Sales systems and revenues.

21.  Maintain the small-wares and event equipment inventory to give timely feedback on loss and reordering needs.

22.  Manage physical inventory verification and provide updated information to the accounting department.

23.  Step in for staff as needed in urgent circumstances.

24.  Attend staff and management meetings as needed.

25.  Other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Must be at least 21 years old.

·       Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated Banquet experience, preferably in a large-scale Catering environment required.

·       Minimum of 3 years of management or supervisory experience required. 

·       High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·       First Aid Training and CPR Certification preferred

·       Cash handling and accounting experience preferred.

·       Demonstrated career growth and goal orientated outlook necessary.

·       Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) required.

·       Knowledge of industry systems and software (Caterease, Social Tables, Atrio, Maestro, Banquet Manager, Visual One) preferred.

·       Must be available to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work on-call as needed.

·       Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·       Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

·       Must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl throughout shift.

·       Must be able to work extended hours of up to 10-12 hours per shift.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

·       Must be able to work in crowded areas where there may be high levels of noise.

·       Must always remain sensitive to cultural diversity in the work place.

·       Must have the ability to work in a team environment.

·       Must have the ability to work with standard cleaning solutions and detergents, always using appropriate safety equipment and precautions.

·       Must be able to constantly work under close surveillance cameras.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

·       Candidates selected for employment will be subject to Pre-employment drug test and Employment reference and background check.

·       Must obtain and maintain a Southern Ute Division of Gaming license.

·       Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino’s policies and procedures, Gaming Code regulations and any applicable policies and regulations set forth by the Sky Ute Casino Resort.

·       Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including personnel data, gaming regulations and compliance.
