Job Summary
SkyMark’s Service Technician is responsible for putting aircraft refueling equipment in-service, trouble-shoot, and service trucks with warranty issues, as well as make design changes in the field. Also, receives calls from customers and assist them with their technical issues. In addition, you will support engineering and technical teams, as well as train the customers technicians how to use the equipment control systems. While in the office, process part sales and take warranty calls.
Job Responsibilities
- Put new and used refueling equipment in service at customer’s location:
- Inspection of equipment before loading with fuel.
- Load fuel, bottom loading shutdown, pre-check test.
- Check control systems (interlocks, fueling pressure, electrical, air).
- Inspect truck chassis, tank mounting, equipment.
- Provide a completed and thorough in-service report form.
- Travel to job sites to trouble-shoot any warranty issues on equipment and perform any repairs necessary to resolve warranty issues.
- Train refueler technicians on:
- Fueling pressure control test and make any adjustments that need to be made.
- Electrical / PLC trouble shooting.
- Air system controls.
- Chassis maintenance.
- Truck procedures (starting, regeneration, DEF fluid).
- Safety.
- When not on the road, in the office:
- Take and process part sales calls.
- Open, close and maintain warranty cases.
- Manage RMA’s with vendors.
- Work with vendors on ordering parts for service.
- Take calls from customers and assist them with their technical issues.
- Assist Sales, Engineering and Technical Support teams with projects as needed.
- Additional responsibilities many be added as customer or company needs change.
Skills Required
- Technical knowledge of all parts and systems on a refueler.
- Aviation Fuel Quality Standards knowledge (JIG, CSA-B836, A4A-103, NFPA 407, etc).
- Ability to trouble shoot equipment over the phone, via e-mail to identify issues or in the field.
- Automotive/mechanical experience.
- Knowledge in electrical, hydraulics, air & fuel pressure control valves, PLC’s.
- Ability to train refueler technicians.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required (customer service oriented).
- Must be able to work independently and under pressure.
- Microsoft Office skills are required
KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
- Receive positive feedback from customers including confirmation that their issue has been resolved.
- Complete in-service reports within 24 hours of the in-service.
- Quality control check of equipment before it is shipped from Kansas City (including paint edges, mounting, wiring, sharp edges, rust, etc.). For units shipping from Findlay, review will need to be done virtually (photos).
- Make sure all of customer’s requests are completed to avoid making changes in the field and/or shipping parts to job site.
- Relay information received from customers while on job site back to management/sales regarding any additional specifications needed by customer.
- Keep customer equipment down time to an absolute minimum.
- Provide technical solution to customer within 24 hrs.
- Advance travel planning in order to allow more time to make travel arrangements and set up training.
Location & Work Hours
This position requires extensive travel and time away from the office. You will be expected to travel at least 3 to 5 times each month. While at the office, you will be expected to take service technical calls, parts sales and collaborate with the Technical Service Department.

- The Service Technician shall report to SkyMark’s Technical Service Manager.
