What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Media Planner position at Slingshot?
The Junior Media Planner is an entry-level position that assists the Media Planner, Planning Supervisor, and/or Group/Associate Media Director in the development and execution of media planning functions for the agency (including the development of budgets, reports, spreadsheets, flowcharts, and media proposals/plans.) This person will also resolve billing discrepancies. The Junior Media Planner is also responsible for expanding his/her knowledge base in preparation for promotion. This growth should be clearly visible within the first year as a Junior Planner.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with media planning process including research and presentations
- Learn to compile and evaluate demographic, psychographic, and lifestyle data as well as other consumer profiles to help identify desired target audiences for clients
- Generate authorization to buy and insertion orders for clients
- Maintain client budgets and ensure proper execution of media plans (including updating and maintaining flowcharts)
- Prepare reports through third-party ad server and assist planner in digital optimization recommendations
- Help to develop agency point of views on media opportunities for submission to the client
- Help to develop competitive spending analysis
- Coordinate and reconcile billing for clients
- Maintain files and documentation on media opportunities
- Foster a good working relationship with client and account teams to facilitate the execution of plans
- Maintain good rapport and meet with sales representatives in order to better understand their products and offerings
- Start to develop media knowledge base in preparation for media planner role including learning and understanding all key media terminology across all media types
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Advertising/Marketing Preferred
- Although no direct media planning experience is required, an internship with an advertising/media agency is desirable
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and detail-oriented
- Computer literate with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and people skills; a positive attitude and team player
