Small Oven Pastry Shop is looking for a dedicated assistant pastry chef for its small culinary team. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant pastry chef role is responsible for helping overseeing all of the baking, decorating and overall presentation of all products sold according to company standards and guidelines. This is the second lead role for the pastry department. It is also a role to ensure a positive customer experience by being a lead example to your co-workers. Being a professional, a team player and showing a cooperative spirit to motivate the staff in providing courteous, friendly, and efficient work environment is expected in this position. Oh, and we also like to have a good time while doing it. Good vibes make great pastries.
DIRECT REPORT: Owner, Operations Manager, Executive Pastry Chef
SUPERVISES: Pastry Production Cooks, Retail and Counter Associates, Porters as needed
COMPENSATION: based on experience, tips, 2 week paid vacation, 5 day a week schedule only.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• 3 years in fine Pastry/Bakery experience whether it be fine dining, catering, hotel, confection shop, bakery, and/or minimum Bachelors degree in Pastry and Bakery Arts
• Must be able and willing to train all work stations and learn all skill sets in reference to product production and finishing
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and standardized recipe system, POS analytics, reports is helpful but not nessasary
• Ability to work positively and confidently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
• Ability to work independently but mostly as a part of a team
• Ability to work organized and cleanly according to food safety standards
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time (8 hours a day during the hoildays)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• ServSafe Managers Certification holder or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of employment- owner will help if needed.
