Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fire and Security Technician to join our team. As a Fire and Security Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing fire alarm systems, security systems, and related equipment. Your role will involve working both independently and as part of a team to ensure the safety and security of our clients' premises.

Responsibilities:

Installation and Configuration:

  • Install and configure fire alarm systems, security systems, surveillance cameras, access control systems, and other related equipment according to industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Program and set up system parameters, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to codes and regulations.

Maintenance and Testing:

  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire and security systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Identify and rectify system faults, troubleshoot technical issues, and replace defective components or equipment promptly.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including test results, repairs, and replacement parts.

Upgrades and System Expansion:

  • Assess client needs and recommend system upgrades or enhancements to improve security measures and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Perform system expansions or modifications, including wiring, device installation, programming, and system integration.

Emergency Response and Support:

  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls related to fire or security system malfunctions, providing troubleshooting, repairs, and solutions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with clients, building managers, and emergency services personnel during critical situations to ensure effective response and resolution.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create accurate and detailed documentation of system installations, maintenance activities, service reports, and customer interactions.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports on system performance, repairs, and recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Stay up to date with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and best practices related to fire and security systems.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with safety guidelines and legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in fire and security systems is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Fire and Security Technician or similar role, with a strong understanding of fire alarm systems, security systems, access control, and cameras.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, NEC, UL).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Experience with system programming and configuration using software tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites when required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and a strong work ethic.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
