Site Safety and Health Officer

Position Description: The objective of the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is to provide onsite professional safety services to SMART’s clients. The SSHO ensures that all safety management activities meet or exceed the quality standards of BOTH the client and company. Additional responsibilities include providing timely information, consistent communication and effective leadership to meet all goals and objectives of this position and represent SMART as a professional organization and respected safety management company.

Position Responsibilities:

• Planning, coordinating, scheduling, and controlling the safety functions at the assigned client jobsite to meet or exceed expectations for SMART’s safety management program.
• Controlling productivity and safety accuracy on the jobsite audit under the Safety Services Manager’s (SSM) control and provide data for any other reports required by the client and/or SSM.
• Maintaining document control to insure information is accurate and timely for maintaining client safety program requirements.
• Maintaining record keeping to adequately report safety program results and incident follow-up.
• Compiling the material/report requirements and coordinating company/client personnel attendance for scheduled meetings.
• Controlling and reporting time spent on activities for each assigned client.
• Coordinating audits to assure they are conducted, documented and reported properly to each client as well as the SSM.
• Preparing proper mindset, safety supplies and procedures prior to entering client jobsites.
• Attending all company training and staff meetings.
• Ensuring that safety programs are followed and that all client employees operate within sound safety standards.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, State, City, Local and Municipal laws and regulations.
• Performing other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Providing timely communication and accurate documentation of all client and company activities relating the safety program management and job responsibilities.

Education, Experience Requirements/Preferences:

• Bachelor Science (B.S.) Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) preferred; but will consider candidates with other qualifications
• Engineering/Technical Degrees accompanied with relevant construction health & safety job experience.
• Minimum 3 years Construction Safety experience (Prefer: 5 )
• OSHA 510/500 preferred
• Will consider OSHA 30 with relevant construction health and safety experience
• Prefer experience
