We are a fully integrated sand supply and services company, offering complete sand, logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers with our in-basin trans-loading terminals and our smartsystem storage capabilities. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Superintendent to join our Maintenance team at our Blair/Taylor facility.

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager in supervising all maintenance activities with regard to the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes in order to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

This position is based primarily at our Blair/Taylor, WI facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and supervises Mechanics in their performance of regular preventive maintenance and repair on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Able to research and find information in order to troubleshoot and maintain mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Establishes job priorities and timeframes for Maintenance staff.
  • Monitors completion of job assignments through frequent field observation and inspections to ensure compliance with standards and instruction and revises instructions and timeframes as necessary.
  • Helps supervise work performed by contractors or subcontractors on production equipment and plant facilities.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation for maintenance schedules, equipment installations, structural repairs, and work orders and other operating reports.
  • Works cooperatively to comply with facility-wide environmental and quality management systems.
  • Demonstrates constant commitment to safety, professional behavior, environmental considerations.
  • Maintains a respectful environment and is involved with work teams on specific projects.
  • Reports regularly to management on safety matters.
  • Follows through on incidents and accidents involving safety.
  • Facilitates and/or coordinates employee required training.
  • Advocates and implements policies to protect company property and assets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, prior experience in supervising others strong encouraged. Military experience, technical school or college background is a plus.
  • 5 years of maintenance experience (e.g. preventative maintenance best practices, mechanical reliability, pumps, valves) required.
  • Electrical or welding certification preferred.
  • MSHA training and experience is required.

  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent documentation skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft-based programs and maintenance programs.
  • Excellent leadership and people skills.
  • Able to prioritize and meet schedules and timelines.
  • Exceptional communications skills and good judgment are required.
  • Must be adaptable and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have high safety standards for self and others.
  • Practical problem-solver, highly-organized, self-motivated and have great people skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
