POSITION SUMMARY:
The Estimator will review change orders, assess their impact on project scope, cost, and schedule, and collaborate with stakeholders to gather relevant information. They'll conduct detailed cost estimates, utilize industry-standard software, negotiate pricing, maintain documentation, and provide mentorship to junior team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review change orders and assess their impact on project scope, cost, and schedule.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand the rationale behind proposed changes and gather relevant information.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to identify changes in material quantities, design revisions, and labor requirements.
- Conduct detailed cost estimates for change orders, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare accurate and timely estimates.
- Present estimates to management and clients, explaining assumptions, methodologies, and cost breakdowns.
- Negotiate with clients and subcontractors to reach mutually acceptable agreements on change order pricing.
- Maintain documentation of change order estimates, correspondence, and approvals for record keeping and audit purposes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication and/or erection.
- Proven track record of success in change order estimation within the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately assess cost impacts and risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla, Powerfab)
