Responsible for all jobs outside of the farm to include but not limited to dead removal, mowing, baiting, trash removal, etc. The work area will be outside year around and require the operation of a pickup truck, bobcat, and semi-tractor. This position will require a valid driver’s license with the possibility of becoming CDL certified.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensures that dead disposal is completed according to the proper procedures and biosecurity flow while, A) Adhering to proper biosecurity measures, B) Maintaining a time schedule and/or routine, and C) Following safety procedures at all times.
- Ensures that vehicles (inside and out), winch, trailers, and other equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and disinfected daily.
- Responsible for basic farm maintenance and preventative maintenance duties.
- Responsible for checking feed, water, and environment of the isolation/depots.
- Ensures that bail is maintained in all bait boxes for the complex.
- Ensures that site aesthetics are kept to the highest standards.
- Aids LNM with pumping or other LNM related activities and repots all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Maintains regular communication with farm (reports, feedback, etc.) to ensure good customer-supplier relationship.
- Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes.
- Reads and understands company’s emergency notification process and is responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
- Performs other duties as defined by manager.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous livestock handing helpful.
- Ability to do hard physical labor.
- Strong commitment to teamwork.
- Willingness to shower daily in and out of facility.
- Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations.
- Must be able to work an average 48-hour work week, which can vary frequently.
- Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
- Must be on call for emergency situations to include but not limit to, power outages or personnel shortages.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
- After CDL certification, responsible for all animal movements for the complex.

- Exposure to noise levels that can fluctuate between moderate and high decibels.
- Occasional work will be performed in high places.
