What we need

 

We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join the Smokeball Finance team; we are a process and technology focused team with a continuous improvement mindset.

This role is responsible for providing financial, clerical and administrative support to ensure the company accurately bills customers and receives payments for services.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support order to cash process through the design and execution of repeatable business process that facilitates timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Maintenance of our AR and Revenue subledgers and assuring reconciliations to the General Ledger are substantiated monthly.
  • Extracting, transforming, and loading data sets between multiple systems.
  • Assist with month end close by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and key accounting reports.
  • Partner with client success leadership to work through resolution plans on past due accounts.
  • Assist finance team in projects to enable business growth.
  • Assuring payments are properly applied to receivables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What you bring

  • 2 years in an accounting role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level experience in Accounting.
  • Understanding of accounting principles pertaining to accounts receivable, unbilled receivables, deferred revenue and revenue
  • An understanding of AR factoring and AR securitization
  • An understanding of the software as a service (SaaS) business model
  • Ability to influence without authority and collaborate with non-finance colleagues to help improve working capital.
  • Aptitude to identify, design and implement process improvements that reduce days sales outstanding.
  • Aptitude for identifying and solving problems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills (Sum if, VLOOKUP, Index Match, Pivot Table) to transform and cleanse complex data sets.
  • Willingness to be onsite two days a week
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Experience with Stripe a plus

Art Garza: Hi, I’m Art! I’ve been with Smokeball for a over three years now and I’ve enjoyed my experience so much since joining the company. The finance team started off very small, with me being here in the US and the CFO, Mick Campbell, in Australia. Since then, we have doubled the finance team and are looking to add more teammates to help meet the demands of our clients. With our growing client base come new challenges – which we all get energy from! We have a collaborative team environment which not only aids in the business’ growth, but also for our own personal development.

In addition to work, I’m also passionate about sports – specifically soccer. I have played my entire life and still try to play on the weekends (when I’m not injured).

 

Ben Pomeroy: Hi, I am Ben and I’ve worked at Smokeball for about a year. I oversee the North American Finance team and help tell the financial story of the company each month as well as guide the strategic decision making with in our region. Our team consists of 7 employees that are passionate about helping the company grow commercially and actively partner across the business to drive business decisions. I am a big believer in empowering staff to make decisions and bring their ideas to the table to assist the company. When I am not working I enjoy playing with my kids, reading and golfing.
