- Operates a Front-End Load (FEL) commercial recycling collection truck and ancillary equipment on assigned route/s to commercial container customers, while providing excellent customer service
- Deliver recyclables to designated recycling/drop-off facility
- Load recyclables using automated FEL to service 2 yard to 8-yard commercial containers
- Properly operates joystick to control front loading arms and forks to connect to container, watching for unintended contact with obstructions around the FEL container
- Safely raise the container to unload into the truck hopper, makes sure adequate overhead clearance ensures no contact with structures, power lines, date lines or trees that may cause damage or injury
- Practice proper backing procedures after servicing the container using cameras making sure back up alarms are working properly
- Prepares, receives, and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery and pickup of containers to ensure timely service
- Loads, secures, and unloads truck and follows all safety procedures at recycling facility
- Maintains radio or telephone communications with dispatcher and supervisor to receive instructions or notice of changes concerning deliveries or pickups
- Complies with all mandatory safety meetings & briefings, operational standards & policies, and maintains a valid Texas CDL and DOT medical card
- Maintains route sheets, completes pre-trip/post trip inspections and reports vehicle inspection records, and follows all federal and state DOT regulations daily
- Maintains route quality safety and service standards
- Maintains clean vehicle interior and exterior
- Communicates vehicle mechanical problems immediately
- Operates truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate Driver induced mechanical failures
- Responsible for completing daily pre & post trip inspections
- Reports all safety and service incidents to the Supervisor immediately
- At least 3 years of satisfactory driving experience of Class A or B vehicles preferred
- Excellent communication skills and ability to deal professionally with customers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other drivers
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
- Excellent driving skills
- Computer Skills: Basic use of Tablets and Applications
- Pass drug screen and criminal background check
- Successfully complete and pass a written and road test
- Meet all Federal & State DOT requirements
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical
- Must be able to climb into and out of truck several times per day using three points of contact
- Must be able to sit for extended periods as well as walk for short periods
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat to perform a full inspection of the underside of the truck and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage
- Must be able to work outside for short periods of time in all types of weather
- Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle in a safe manner
- Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
