The Business Unit Manager assists in translating business strategy into work programs and processes for an assigned customer account(s) (Business Unit). The Business Unit Director must focus on customers' expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and other employees. This person will be in charge of managing day-to-day operations and core functions of operations in order to achieve and maintain operational excellence. Works independently on difficult assignments that are broad in nature requiring originality and ingenuity with minimal supervision or review. Provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems. Extensive contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information.
Responsibilities:
- Manages a piece of the customer relationship (e.g., new product introduction, product line, transferring business to another SMTC site, materials management, etc.) through direct interaction with customers.
- Meet with Executive Business at least monthly to review and evaluate KPI’s.
- Attend quarterly business reviews with key customers.
- Direct and control the activities on purchasing business, production control, planning, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, maintenance, manufacturing and logistics.
- Prepares materials for Request for Proposal (RFP) responses.
- Manages excess and obsolete materials.
- Contributes to the forecast & variance process in Company’s financial system.
- Supports Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provides indirect leadership to more junior associates
- Guarantee production, delivery in full, on time and in specifications, required by customers.
- Define operational financial goals
- Operational business experience including a successful performance track record managing staff and P&L
- Establish and communicate Business Unit goals and assignments.
- Define and execute operational programs in line with strategic plans and annual operating goals.
- Partner with other business to establish strategic plans and goals.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience for the Business Unit Manager:
- Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in Engineering, Finance/Accounting, or Business Management preferred.
- 10 years work-related experience required, preferably in Financial or Manufacturing Operations fields.
- Minimum 8 years of leadership experience
- Or a combination of education, experience and/or training
- Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable company’s business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.
- Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
- Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required
- Proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint.
- Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry.
- Strong financial and analytical ability.
- Strong and convincing communication skills.

Salary : $119,000 - $151,000
