SMX is seeking a driven and talented Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market. This position is 100% remote. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer you will have the opportunity to work on the creation, integration, and product lifecycle. This individual will bring a strong trouble-shooting background, generalist technical skill set, and an ability to deploy production-ready solutions. We are looking for an individual with a solid foundation that is hungry to grow their skills in the cloud. This role will be performed remotely.
Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate within team and with the customer, and provide clear and timely updates to, Project Lead or Project Manager
High quality code that is performant, reusable, and secure while adhering to industry and team best practices
Identify opportunities to automate and/or bring efficiency to technical processes
Identify system or performance issues, and develop resolutions
Analysis of technologies to implement requirements
Maintain code integrity and organization, optimization, performance and ensure responsiveness of applications
Participate in troubleshooting of infrastructure and/or application related issues
Produce well-written technical project documentation and operational runbooks
Maintain core working hours but remain flexible to support after-hours maintenance and escalations (as necessary)
Participate as a team player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic working environment
Take ownership of issues and act with high sense of urgency when required
Achieve and maintain AWS certifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelors degree in a technical discipline and five (5 ) years of relevant hands-on experience
Previous deployment and configuration with cloud services according to best practice (e.g.: EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudFront, Route53, CloudWatch, KMS, Redshift, S3 and Glacier, Kinesis, Redis, Lambda, API Gateway)
Proven ability to interpret client requirements into engineering plans and discrete tasks
Proven ability to develop and deploy Production-ready AWS solutions through Infrastructure as Code
Experience developing DevOps solutions from scratch using tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Jenkins and related products
Ability to build code pipelines and support deployment activities
Ability to write scripts in JavaScript, Bash, Python, or similar
A good understanding of foundational cloud components (e.g.: VPN, Direct Connect, IAM, CloudWatch, "cross account" capabilities)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiar working in Agile team
Customer-focused attitude
Desired Qualifications:
Existing AWS Certification
2 years in Cloud Engineering / DevOps Role
Prior experience in a software development role is a plus
