What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Infrastructure Technician Lead (3655) position at SMX?
SMX is seeking a Senior Cabling Installation Technician to support the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Command's network infrastructure through survey, design and deployment of structured networks and will be responsible for the upkeep of the security posture. This is a full-time onsite position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- The technician will Install, label and test premise cabling, connections, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
- This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, cable plant installations that are compliant with commercial TEMPTES and NIST standards.
- Lead network survey, design, and installations under the direction of the U.S. Government.
- Conduct Site Surveys of customer premise networks in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Create/update detailed site surveys of customer premise networks in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Configure, install, test, certify and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling.
- Ensure network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST standards.
- Test and Troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on NIPR/SIPR/JWICS networks.
- Updating cable run sheets and other documentation as required.
- Read and interpret system installation drawings, design packages, and apply that knowledge to cabling installations.
- Provide quality assurance by inspecting the work of subordinate employees.
- Promote a safe work environment and implement safe work practices.
Required Skills, Experience & Education
- Clearance Requirement: Top Secret/SCI and willingness to take a CI Poly
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants.
- Highly proficient in the installation and testing of cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
- Must be proficient in the installation of various types of cable tray, Protective Distribution System (PDS), and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduits and associated hardware.
- Proficient in the understanding and techniques for fusion splicing, termination and basic understanding of inside/outside plant (OSP) installation.
- Proper handling and installation of ST, SC, LC, RJ45, CAT3 copper cabling systems and existing industry communication cable standards.
- Must be proficient and understand how to interpret work orders and technical drawings to determine what is required per installation project.
- Must be able to understand, operate, and interpret results for optical time domain reflectometer (OTDRs), Visual Fault Locator (VFL), optical loss test set (OLTS)
- Security ce OR willingness to obtain prior to start date
- Must possess a valid U.S. Passport
- Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
- Must be willing to travel 25% or greater CONUS and OCONUS locations
- This position requires the ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 Ibs, and perform overhead work
