What are the responsibilities and job description for the Snow Groomer position at Snow Valley Mountain Resort?
Job Purpose:
Responsible for farming all snow, which includes rebuilding ski runs, building terrain features and terrain parks and generally creating an awesome snow surface experience for guests by creating high quality skiing conditions. Keeps building and lift terminals clear of hazards and snow. Works closely with Mountain Ops Supervisor, Learning Centers and Snow Makers in carrying out these tasks.
Essential Functions/Physical Demands:
- Works 8-10 hours per day, often for 6 consecutive days during winter season, November through April, including weekend and holidays
- More than 90% of shift is working outdoors at night (and usually overnights), in extreme weather conditions and temperatures
- Extended periods of sitting/driving while performing tasks, normally for an entire shift
- Moderate exposure to exhaust fumes and loud noises
- Requires climbing and working ay heights of up to 70 feet, working from scaffolding and ladders
- Occasional lifting and carrying of more than 60 lbs.; more with assistance
- Frequent stooping, bending at neck and waist, reaching, grasping, pulling and pushing, shoveling
Experience/Training/Education:
Required:
- Prior experience performing Groomer responsibilities and operating a snow cat.
- Must be at least 18 years old and posses a valid California driver's license
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must have clean DMV and submit license information for the DMV Pull Notice Program, a program that monitors activity to your license such as tickets, DUI's, and suspensions, and forwards to employer.
- May be required to pass a post off, pre-employment physical
Desired:
- Working knowledge of a 12v dc electrical system; basic hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Welding ability, heavy equipment, operations, electronics or industrial electrical experience
Knowledge/skills/abilities:
In addition to mechanical aptitude, candidate should possess and utilize their own basic automotive tools. Have ability to read and understand technical manuals and training manuals and perform basic math.
Environmental Elements:
Work may be strenuous at times and performed during inclement weather and on challenging terrain. The temperature can range from well below freezing to in excess of 80 degrees Fahrenheit with high winds, snow, rain, and dense fog and intense sun. The terrain is often on uneven and icy ground. Protective equipment is strongly recommended including full sun protection, adequate clothing for conditions and expected conditions.
