Overview
Snyder & Associates’ Atlantic, IA office has an immediate opening for a CAD Technician/Designer to work in the creation of detailed drawing and construction plan preparation in civil, transportation and utilities engineering projects. This position may also assist with survey technician and/or construction inspection duties as needed.
The successful candidate will have a professional and positive attitude with a strong work ethic; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the flexibility to work both with a team or as an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare engineering drawings using practical design knowledge for transportation projects
- Work closely with engineers and other designers to ensure coordinated projects
- Compile data and perform calculations required for preparation of plans and drawings.
- Prepare consistent plans and engineering drawings.
- Assist with survey technician and/or construction inspection duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in CAD or Certificate in Drafting, or an acceptable level of CAD training with previous on-the-job experience.
- Prior experience with civil engineering projects in transportation, utility and/or land development design is preferred
- Prior experience in the clean-up of topographic survey downloads a plus.
- Knowledge of MicroStation, Geopak strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Reliable worker with self-starter qualities
