JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: MONITOR

Reports To: OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Classification: Full-Time/Part-Time

Location: Sobriety House, Inc.

Morning/Afternoon Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise completion of Residents' daily housekeeping chores
  • Assign and supervise Residents' additional work therapy details.
  • Provide liaison to Operations Director regarding Residents' performance, behavior and attitudes.
  • Assist Operations Director in maintaining a daily "Stick Call" list by 7:00 a.m. each morning.
  • Assist Cook/Dietician in providing proper storage for fresh and packaged groceries.
  • Assist in maintaining in appropriate level of coffee and janitorial supplies.
  • Supervise preparation of luncheon or breakfast as assigned.
  • Be responsible for cleanliness and proper appearance of interiors and exteriors of House and Grounds.
  • Perform those additional tasks as requested by the Operations Director, Deputy or

Executive Director.

  • Make hourly checks of both houses. Look for anything out of order. Check on the cleanliness of rooms.
  • Make hourly outside checks making sure all gates are secured and all buildings are safe and locked; Shed, Starret Hall, Kitchen, and Module. Outside security, is an important matter, do not take it lightly.

Afternoon/Night Monitor Job Responsibilities:

11:00 P.M.

  • Lock all doors and close fire doors in the tunnel area.
  • Check to make sure gates and all outside buildings are locked.
  • Take payphones off hooks in both houses.
  • Make sure all visitors are off the premises. No one is to enter the buildings that are not residents.
  • Night Monitor will make himself aware of the location of all fire alarms and fire extinguishers throughout both houses.
  • All recreation activities are to be stopped at 11:00 P.M.

12:00 Midnight

  • Turn off T.V. in both houses on weekdays. (Sunday through Thursday).
  • Check to see that all residents are in bed and ready for bed check. All lights will be out in resident rooms at this time.
  • Any resident who returns after curfew, will be given an alco-check and written up as coming in late. There is no exception to this rule.
  • At this time the Night Monitor will make a bed check and is to account for every man on the roster.
  • Night Monitor will begin to turn off house lights, leaving any lights on that are for stairwells or emergency use. Monitor's desk light and Ogden House Dining Room lights are to be left on.
  • All radios should be turned down low.
  • Friday and Saturday bed check time. Anyone missing will be in violation of curfew and will be considered to have ABSCONDED. He is to be accounted for by the Night

Monitor as working or on a pass.

5:00 A.M.
Make morning coffee

12:00 A.M. to 7:00 A.M.

  • A regular hourly check is to be made. Both of the houses are to be checked. i.e.: the gate being open, fires, smoke, gas leaks, flooding, evidence of a break in, etc. Any emergency should be dealt with in a professional matter.
  • The Night Monitor will be aware of all wake-ups in both houses, that are listed on his monitor sheet. It is his responsibility to wake residents in a courteous manner, making sure he knows where each of these residents is sleeping.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a halfway house alcoholic/chemical dependency program
  • Specific knowledge and experience with Twelve Step philosophy, addiction and recovery is preferred.
  • Must be able to function both independently and in a team environment.
  • Tact, discretion, and resourcefulness are required at all times.
  • Must have transportation
  • Must pass a drug test

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to submit a daily questionnaire. Temperature checks are done when arriving to work and leaving work. COVID Test are administered on site once a month.
