Soccer Shots DC/MD/VA (DMV) was established six years ago. Soccer Shots DMV stretches from Harford Co, MD to Prince William Co, VA. Soccer Shots DMV offices are located in Laurel, MD, Fairfax, VA & Lutherville, MD. Soccer Shots DMV works closely with Soccer Shots Franchising National Headquarters in Middletown, PA. Soccer Shots DMV offers programs at nearly 400+ locations, serves over 28,000 participants, and employs approximately 100+ part-time coaches and 30+ full-time employees.

ACADEMIC OBJECTIVES:
The student intern will be required to handle and present him/herself in a professional manner, consistently arriving on time to assigned office hours, coaching sessions, and events. S/he will be expected to assist in the overall execution of a Soccer Shots season and participate in instructing Soccer Shots sessions (50% of your internship), giving him/her experience in coaching youth and working with parents. Assignments may be given based on your interests in the following areas:
Assignments may be given to you according to your availability and location in the Washington, D.C. / Maryland / Virginia area.

This internship experience may or may not already be an approved academic credit internship with your school. Please make sure to notify us immediately if you are seeking academic credit through your school for this experience. With your help, Soccer Shots will work directly with your school’s registrar, academic advisor, or internship department to help you achieve academic credit for this internship experience.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT/WORKING REQUIREMENTS:
Functions in a temperature controlled office environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to sit, stand and walk throughout an extended work day (8 – 10 hours); position requires use of fingers, hands and arms on a consistent basis for keyboarding and phone work; position may need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required. The standard office environment has moderate noise levels associated with computer equipment, customers and phone conversations. Position may occasionally have the need to be exposed to an inside/outside sports environment.
Functions in an inside/outside sports environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to run, stop, stoop, bend (a physical, exercise type regimen) in a minimum of 40 minute increments per session. Position requires use of hands, arms, legs and feet and may include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Moderate gymnasium like noises are associated with this position as well as excellent vision skills (with or without correction.)
EVALUATION METHOD
A performance evaluation will occur at the conclusion of the first term and at the conclusion of the internship placement. The evaluation will consider the following general areas of professional operations, and specific intern goals within each area:
Continuing formal and informal supervision will occur between the intern and the onsite supervisors. Clear and open communication will occur on an ongoing and as needed basis, at a minimum of 30 minutes per scheduled work day with site supervisors.
INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE/COMPENSATION
The Soccer Shots internship will encompass a minimum of 240 hours over a 12-week period. The internship will include twelve consecutive 20-hour (minimum) work weeks for the duration of the internship.
During the first four weeks of the internship, the intern will be working closely with the Regional Directors on preparing for the upcoming season -- scheduling instructors, running demos, and promoting the season.
Once the season starts, the student intern’s focus will shift to executing the program by coaching 50% of their total hours of work per week.
The intern will be compensated $11/hr.
Internship positions are available for the following time periods:
Winter Season—mid-December through mid-March
Spring Season—mid-February/early March through May
Summer Season—mid-May through mid-August
Fall Season—mid-August/September through November
