Socco Forest Products is looking for an experienced millwright with industry experience to assist with all maintenance related items. The successful candidate requires a strong industry background and working knowledge of forestry equipment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Perform preventative maintenance,
- Trouble shoot and repair machines,
- Dismantle and move machinery,
- Assemble and install machinery,
- Read plans and blueprints,
- Monitor boiler chemical levels and assist with boiler change overs,
- Assist other department from time to time,
- Complying with company policies,
- Help maintain a safe orderly environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Mechanical skills – strong knowledge and understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, belt systems, motors, and other industrial machine components is essential. Must be able to weld and cut metal parts.
- Blueprint/schematic reading – ability to analyze and understand blueprints, wiring schematics, layout plans, and other materials when assembling machinery.
- Physical capabilities – from eye-hand coordination to flexibility, the successful candidate must possess the physical attributes needed to perform their jobs on a daily basis.
- Troubleshooting – ability to follow troubleshooting steps to determine problems with industrial machinery, identifying which systems are failing and what procedures or parts are needed to fix the issue
- Problem-solving – once an issue with a machine has been identified, the successful candidate must possess the necessary problem-solving skills needed to understand what must be done to address and resolve the issue
- Team player – ability to work well with other millwrights as well as engineers, plant managers, parts vendors, and others who assist in assembling and installing industrial equipment.
- Working independently – ability to make decisions, troubleshoot, and make repairs with little to no supervision.
- Mathematical skills – measuring, making calculations, and applying general geometric concepts.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Socco Forest Products located in Sumas Washington and is one of the largest custom dry kiln facilities in the Pacific North West. Located on 22.88 acres it offers 9 kilns capable of drying up to 120,000,000 FBM. per year and a resaw capable of handling timbers up 20 ft in length and 1 ft in width and thickness. The facility is capable of drying soft woods and hardwoods of various dimensions to achieve our customers required moisture content.

Pay: $22.50 - $25.00 per hour
