What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Associate position at Social Justice Center?

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Development Associate to join our team. The Development Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the fundraising and development efforts of the Social Justice Center, Inc. This position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to contribute to the growth and sustainability of our organization.

Communication and Outreach:

  • Assist in creating fundraising appeals and social media to effectively communicate the Social Justice Center’s needs.
  • Collaborate with the director and/or Board to ensure consistent messaging across various platforms.
  • Manage and update SJC’s social media and work with staff/board to update website as needed
  • Attending community outreach/marketing events

Donor Relations:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with existing donors.
  • Assist in developing strategies to engage and steward donors, ensuring their continued support.

Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Director to ensure seamless execution and maximize fundraising opportunities. – Jubilee committee

Database Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and donation records in our CRM, Little Green Light.

Grant Writing and Research:

  • Identify and research potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
  • Prepare grant proposals and applications in collaboration with the director and Board of Directors and fundraising committee

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business), or equivalent related experience
  • 2 years of experience in nonprofit development or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Google Office Suite, experience with donor management or CRM database software
  • Experience with social media and email marketing, comfortable using social media platforms, email marketing programs and website
  • Capable at event coordination and management
  • Experience with basic graphic design programs such as Canva

Hours & compensation

Pay: starting $21/hour, with increases available based on performance

Hours: 10 – 15 hours per week with flexibility for more during peak times of the year.
