Job Description
SOCOTEC AE Consulting, LLC, has a Building Envelope opportunity for the Spring/Summer 2022 semester. The selected candidate will have the opportunity join our multi-disciplinary Building Envelope, Architectural, Structural Engineering and Owner’s Project Management firm and be able to participate in, and be a part of, a multitude of projects in varying capacities.
Types of projects may include, but not be limited to Roofing, Windows, Masonry or Concrete, Curtainwalls, Waterproofing, Building Envelope Commissioning.
Projects and tasks could include, but not are limited to, any or all of the following:
- Assisting the Project Managers with field investigations and existing conditions surveys.
- Assist the drafting team with light-to-moderate AutoCAD and/or Revit drafting of plans, elevations, sections and/or details (depending on AutoCAD/Revit experience and comfort level).
- Observe and participate in repair design discussions and reviews.
- Assist Drafters and Project Managers with printing, assembling and packaging drawing and specification sets for submissions or shipping.
- Assist with editing specifications, proposals, letters and/ or Field Reports.
- Product, manufacturer or other research.
- A variety of other Ad-Hoc projects. This is an opportunity to gain experience and exposure to the full spectrum of phases from study, design conception, bidding and construction.
The individual in this position reports to the Project Managers and Principals.
Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year of full time, college education completed in Architectural Engineering, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering or Architecture.
- General familiarity with building materials and methods.
- Familiarity with plans, elevations, details and sections.
- Some experience in AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (MS Word and MS Excel. MS Outlook).
- Strong desire to be part of, and contribute to, a dynamic team of professionals.
- Ability to effectively present and communicate information verbally, graphically and in writing.
