Directs daily grounds maintenance and landscape development service operations to ensure employees have appropriate equipment and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines. Owns and develops client relationships and client satisfaction in grounds maintenance and landscaping development services by developing strategy for services at account. 60%
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel). Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with Sodexho safety and loss prevention programs and with standards and procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials and/or waste. 15%
Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards, including providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate. 15%
Supervision of internal staff and external vendors in areas such as facilities security, facilities maintenance & repair, custodial & groundskeeping services, office administration and secretarial services 15%
Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees. 5%
Manages the budget by controlling costs (e.g. labor, inventory, equipment, materials), complying with budget requirements and making adjustments when necessary. 5%

Key responsibilities:
Plan, organize and oversee the daily activities of all campus grounds and landscaping services staff. Establish and continuously review performance standards, goals and objectives
- Schedule and perform routine inspections of all campus grounds and landscape to ensure quality
- Manage seasonal plantings and pesticide applications
- Work closely with athletic deptartment to prepare and maintain 40 acres of athletic fields for both grass and synthetic fields
- Execute and update yearly the campus snow removal plan, manage maintenance of snow removal equipment
- Ensure all grounds and facilities vehicles and equipment is maintained to a safe and serviceable condition and workshop facilities are kept clean and tidy
- This position will act as the facilities fleet manager
- Present a professional personal appearance, firmly enforcing service staff uniforms, personal protective equipment, and other safety gear that reflects the University image and brand
- Certification in pesticide application preferred
Requirements
- Preferred 3 years of Grounds leadership experience
- Experience working with and maintaining sports fields both natural grass and synthetic
- Knowledge with hard scapes, machinery and fencing strongly preferred
- Computer literacy as well as excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills
