Job Description:
Medical Technologist- Psychiatric Tech

psychiatric Technicians work 13 hour shifts 3- days a week, including every other weekend.

- Provides direct daily living care for patients; bathes, clothes, and feeds patients; moves, lifts,
and/or transfers patients using sliding boards, wheelchairs, or other required equipment.
- Escorts patients to medical appointments.
- Assists in the admission and discharge of patients.
- Accurately takes Blood Pressure and Vital Signs of patients and records in their chart.
- Escorts patients to the appropriate areas in the event of an emergency; rescues injured
patients during the event of an emergency.
- Makes rounds according to policy and procedure and accounts for each patient they are
assigned utilizing the patient accountability check sheet.
- Provides verbal de-escalation of agitated patients.
- Performs Heimlich maneuver, CPR, and other emergency responses.
- Able to lift up to 50 Lbs., have flu shot (during season), TB test
- Repetitive bending, stooping and requires walking the majority of the shift.
- Able to work all shifts as assigned each week.

Bathe and dress patients, serve meals and help patients eat, take vital signs, turn or reposition patients who are bedridden, collect information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses and doctors, lift patients into beds, wheelchairs, exam tables, etc., examine patients for bruises, blood in urine or other injuries/wounds, clean and sanitize patient areas, change bed sheets and restock rooms with necessary supplies.

*Week 1 - Monday or Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

*Week 2 - Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Note: Our week starts Sunday through Saturday

2. Special schedules:

We do not do special schedules or work 3 on, 3 off..
MTMHI REQUIREMENTS FOR AGENCY CLEARANCE

Nurses and Techs

1. Current AHA/BLS CPR-Basic Life Support BLS Provider:

* We only accept AHA/BLS

* We do not accept online CPR certifications

2. TB test: Upon hire one of the below 3 options must be submitted or completed within 30 days.

We will accept the First Step if it has been completed within 1-3 weeks of start date

* A 2 step TB Skin Test (must be within 3 weeks of start date)

An IGRA – TB blood test/QuantiFERON Gold (within 1 year)

and a screener upon hire.

* A Chest X-Ray (within 1 year) and a Screener upon hire.

TB Screening Annually after initial clearance

3. Mandatory Influenza Immunization:

*Due annually during Flu season (October thru April)

COVID - It is not mandatory to be vaccinated, but we request a copy of your vaccination(s) if you have done so.
4. COVID Test on Day 1 if symptomatic

5. MANDATORY Orientation will last 4 days for technicians and 5 days for nurses

Nurses ONLY

1. Nurse License: Actual license

Compact Nurse Licensure – We will need a copy of their State Driver’s License
