What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Counsel position at Sol de Janeiro?
The position will report to the Head of Legal.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the Company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and rules
- Participate in the design and development of corporate policies, procedures, best practices and programs required for a growing organization
- Provide counsel and guidance on legal matters, and on legal implications of all matters
- Keep abreast of ongoing governance and regulatory changes and report directly to the Head of Legal
- Provide legal advice, opinions and solutions regarding complex issues and risks relating to the on-going and expanding business by working closely with internal teams
- Draft, negotiate and review a broad range of commercial agreements, such as master services agreements, license agreements, vendor agreements and employment agreements with consultants, suppliers, venders, retailers, partners, personnel, etc.
- Deliver creative, timely, proactive and business-friendly advice and training in a fast-paced, competitive and evolving environment
- Work closely with all business units to address ongoing legal needs
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Member in good standing of a state bar, preferably New York
- Successful legal experience in top law firms or top CPG companies including E-commerce/digital, global experience
- 5-7 years of directly related work experience – Intellectual Property, Trademark and Litigation experience preferred
- Proven ability to implement policies and projects across an international organization
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
- Commercial mindset, with an agile and relationship focused approach
- Ability to creatively analyze and address novel issues and think outside the box
- Comfortable working a hybrid schedule (Remote at least 1 day per week in our NY Office)
