Position Summary:
The primary purpose of your job position is to organize, plan, direct, control, and supervise functions and personnel within the dietary department to ensure the provision of quality food service and nutritional care, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Solaris HealthCare’s established policies and procedures. policies and procedures.

Nutritional Care Assessment Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Registered Dietician assists in collecting data for nutritional assessment, MDS, RAPs and development of care plans within scope of practice and as per government and state regulations.
Refers all new admissions and high risk (tube feedings, pressure injuries, dialysis, weight loss, etc.) to the Dietitian for review. Communicates with Dietitian between visits concerning high-risk residents.
Visits residents regarding menus and food preferences.
Checks resident progress and determines effectiveness of nutritional care plan.
Assists Dietitian/Dietetic Technician if needed with timely follow-up on physician recommendations.
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings. Assists the Dietitian/Dietetic Technician in collecting data for nutritional observation/review. Serves as Dining Room Coordinator, Dining Room Monitor as required.
If the Dietitian is unable to attend, communicates resident nutrition and hydration relevant changes in condition during the 24-hour Clinical
Report/Stand-Up Meeting.
Promotes and assists in implementation of liberalized diets.
Follows-up with Dietitian on menus needed for any non- standard diet orders which exist.
Follows house supplement procedure recommending enhanced food before supplements.
Uses the Tray Ticket system to maintain residents’ profiles.
Insures that resident information in the Tray Ticket system matches physician orders.
In absence of Dietitian and Dietetic Technician, reviews weight records routinely and communicates variances to interdisciplinary team.
Systems Responsibilities
Develops, maintains, and utilizes Tray Ticket system.
Processes diet order changes and new diet orders from Nursing Service.
Confers with Registered/Licensed Dietitian and Dietetic Technician to ensure that operations conform with nutritional standards and government and establishment regulations and procedures.
Conducts Quality Improvement self-audit as requested or scheduled.

Special Activities/Attributes
Education
Graduate of a certified dietary or food service manager training program approved by the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) and/or State Health Department or an Associate’s or higher degree in food service management or hospitality from an accredited institution. Meets Florida State requirements.
Experience
One to two years of supervisory experience in hospital or long-term care facility dietary department desirable.
