Job Description :
Soliant is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time contract position in Illinois.
This onsite role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive educational environment, providing essential educational support to students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in various settings
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet students' needs
- Teach Braille, assistive technology, and other skills to promote independence
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create supportive learning environments
- Monitor and report on student progress and development
- Conduct functional vision assessments and provide appropriate recommendations
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
Qualifications :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired
- Valid Illinois certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
