Solid aims to be the center of excellence across a given disease spectrum bringing together those with expertise in science, technology, disease management, and care. Patient-focused and founded by those directly impacted, Solid’s mandate is to improve the daily lives of patients living with these devastating diseases.

Position Summary: Seeking an experienced and highly motivated bench scientist with a strong background in Cardiac Research to join the research team at Solid Biosciences and reporting to the Head of Discovery Biology. The team’s mission is to deliver the next generation of AAV therapies to patients with various genetic cardiac diseases including BAG3, as well as neuromuscular diseases. The successful candidate will play an important role in the development of novel gene therapy approaches for cardiac diseases. They will lead efforts and develop plans to develop and interrogate disease models, increase disease understanding and input on assay development and outcome measures, while ultimately contributing to the expansion of our cardiac drug pipeline. The candidate will bring a strong understanding of cardiac biology, e.g., electrophysiology, muscle physiology, molecular biology, cell biology, echocardiography, and ideally some experience in drug discovery. She/he will contribute to various program teams and collaborate closely with colleagues within Research, Translational Development, and across functional areas. They will drive internal and external capabilities, in accordance with previous experience and current best practices in cardiac biology and have the opportunity to enable high-quality research with the goal of giving hope to patient populations with significant unmet need for transformative therapies. Title commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expertise and leadership to expand Solid’s cardiac biology research, drug discovery and development, and disease understanding. Develop and execute preclinical and translational strategies for AAV-based therapies in cardiac indications, in collaboration with colleagues in nonclinical, translational development, and clinical development.
  • This will be achieved by coordinating multiple research activities involving cross-functional project teams with the goal to establish and develop appropriate assays and techniques (in vitro and in vivo) both in-house and at external Contract Research Organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge of latest external innovations within the field to drive and evolve gene therapies for cardiac disease targets accordingly.
  • Lead and enable external interactions, including proactively presenting and publishing data, and building and managing relationships with external collaborators, KOLs and Contract Research Organizations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration within the various cross-functional teams and across the broader organization.

Basic Qualifications:
