Responsibilities: Supervises and controls warehouse inventory to ensure that equipment and materials are available to the various trade shops for the efficient maintenance and repair of County facilities. Supervises and directs general maintenance work crew, mail clerks, facility attendants and any other F&S divisional group as directed by the Director of F&S. Administers and supervises the use of various safety equipment by County personnel. Oversees work performed by haulers and vendors making deliveries to the warehouse. Incumbent responds to concerns and follows through with appropriate action. Incumbent prepares detailed reports, cost estimates, and requests for purchase orders. Investigates and responds to public/private complaints. Incumbent reports for emergency work to include facility maintenance, snow removal, wind damage, ice storms, floods, etc. as required. Schedules and coordinates projects with other divisions, contractors and employees; maintains catalog of materials utilized by forepersons to ensure that materials are available for the completion of projects. Directs the work of others including vendors to ensure that projects and materials meet specifications. Utilizes DPW INFOR Infrastructure Management System to monitor inventory, enter work orders, verifies project costs and invoices shared services with municipalities and the Somerset County Court System. Instructs new employees on the procedures followed for requesting equipment, materials and supplies from the warehouse. Incumbent maintains and repairs tools and equipment housed in the warehouse. Incumbent performs chemical control procedures and the handling, use and application of various hazardous materials; stores chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and maintains manual of SDS. Incumbent controls computerized and physical inventory of keys to all County facilities and cuts and issues keys on request. Order uniforms in accordance with the union contract. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent along with five years' experience in inventory methods and record keeping procedures, two years supervisory experience and/or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Incumbent must be knowledgeable in all existing trades in Facilities and Services and have knowledge of the construction and repair techniques as well as equipment and materials utilized by those trades.
Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and commercial driver's license 'Class B' as well as a forklift certification. Requires an understanding of the State of New Jersey Local Public Contracting Laws and the ability to research and utilize the state contract for the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies. Knowledge of specialized safety equipment and the ability to train others in the use of this equipment.
Preferred: Knowledge of the Somerset County facility system; supplemental training in inventory control and purchasing systems and methods. An understanding of regulations, procedures, and responsibilities of specific projects, along with a basic knowledge of theories, methods and practices.

Pay: $33,700.00 - $44,900.00 per year
