Responsible for the company's safety records and standards including accident reporting, safety audits, emergency response planning, DOT compliance and reporting, OSHA regulation, and worker's compensation programs. Develop and communicate best practices for long-term solutions in partnership with mid- and high-level leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform specification and safety plan reviews of new facilities that include but are not limited to, new construction, remodels, upgrades, and maintenance to assure compliance with company safety policies and documentation.
Assist in the development and documentation of new standard procedures that support loss prevention and risk mitigation in operational activities.
Assist in development and implementation of safety training programs for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other federal, state, or local requirements in support of the company's safety program.
Facilitate activities between the associate, company departments and third-party providers during the commercial driver hiring onboarding for a compliant and efficient process.
Report and direct general liability and other claims (hurricane, auto, etc.) in conjunction with our insurance provider.
Oversee administration of the various state worker's compensation programs.
Administer and analyze company's Department of Transportation (DOT) program, including all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, Driver Hours of Service, Random Drug/Alcohol screening, and Rule-Set requirements.
Administer and analyze company's Driver Qualification File program, including maintaining all aspects of DOT files and FMCSA Clearinghouse regulations.
Collaborate and support the Corporate Operations team on various facilities projects and company-wide initiatives.
Administer the company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and associated accident documentation procedures.
Complete all post-accident documentation and create an accident report for management review.
Oversee and maintain Emergency Response Plan implementation.
Support district and branch operations on various projects and tasks.
Facilitate and maintain safety documentation within third-party safety registration programs.
Propose and create content for monthly branch safety meetings.
Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities that leverage digitization and increase productivity.
Conduct online and in-person safety training and audits as needed.
Perform all assigned duties in a professional, ethical, and efficient manner in accordance with Irby Utilities policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and/or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two to four years of demonstrated experience managing Federal DOT regulated fleet programs including Hours of Service rules and electronic log compliance.
Desired Skills / Experience
Microsoft Suite - including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong organizational, reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to explain complex issues to teach and train in individual and group settings.
Ability to prioritize tasks in conjunction with large sized projects.
Strong attention to detail.
Desire to drive continuous improvement.
Travel up to 50%.
Must be comfortable in both office and warehouse environments and working via remote tools such as SharePoint, Teams, and Webex.
