A Higher Education Organization is seeking a Grant Accountant. The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of grant accounting including general accounting and financial reporting. Major duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Responsibilities:
- Requesting new grant and project accounts as necessary
- Prepare quarterly analysis of grant receivables and revenue/expense reports
- Work with project directors to ensure that all financial reports are accurate and submitted on a timely basis
- Work with budget office to ensure that grants are allocated appropriately across accounts
- Reconciliation of grant accounts
- Preparation and recording of journal entries as needed in reconciling interfunds
- Requires preparing accurate and timely financial reports and reimbursement requests for grant financial activity and assists in the preparation of grant proposal budgets
- Accumulates, researches and summarizes detailed account activity as needed and ensures accurate reconciliation of all grant account data to the general ledger
- Creates, reviews, and/or directs all accounting entries (transactions and journals) related to sponsored programs and restricted funds
- Other accounting related tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Grant Accounting
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive Accounting experience
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros
- Decision making and troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
Preferred Skills:
- CPA or MBA a plus
- Experience with PeopleSoft's General Ledger or similar ERP system, preferred
- Industry experience out of Higher Ed. or Nonprofit preferred
Compensation: $35-$40/ Hour
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
