The Electrical Engineer (Hardware) designs, tests and validates both hardware and firmware within embedded electronic control units. This position will support existing products, as well as develop new products to meet customer needs and requirements. You’ll be a key part of a small team of engineers at Sonicu developing solutions for our clients, as well as our own product line. You’ll be hands-on with our products from the first prototype all the way to production. Sonicu is constantly looking to improve our technology & expand our current product offerings – come explore, learn, and deliver with us. Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
2 years of experience in a similar role
Experience using C/C to develop embedded firmware.
Experience using EAGLE or other software for PCB design
Prototyping skills – comfortable assembling, soldering, and troubleshooting hardware
Experience using GIT or equivalent version control system.
Ability to utilize common electronic test equipment: logic analyzers, power profilers, DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.
Ability to read schematics, datasheets, and technical reference manuals
Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently, and within a team.
Preferred Skills
Experience in low power system design
Some experience working with one or more of the following embedded communication protocols: RS485, I2C, SPI, OneWire, USB, MODBUS, BACnet, 4-20mA, CCI
Experience with technologies used for embedded debugging such as JTAG, SWD, OpenOCD, GDB, etc.
Experience using ESP32, STM32, or AVR MCUs
Job Duties:
Responsible for the creation and design of digital and analog circuit schematics and PCB layouts
Perform hardware validation and debugging during the PCB bring-up process
Design, document, implement, test and validate embedded system firmware for both new and existing electronic control products.
Collaborate with both Electrical Engineers and Mechanical Engineers to produce a fully integrated product that will meet customer needs and requirements.
Develop, execute, and document verification test procedures.
Create technical documentation for new and revised code.
Work with our support staff to troubleshoot our existing products.
