What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, Finance position at Sony Music Entertainment?
As Finance Coordinator you will directly support the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Columbia Records, as well as the overall Columbia Finance team and certain other functions under the CFO's scope of responsibility. You will make a vital contribution to ensuring the efficient running of daily business operations of the label and the financial planning, analysis, and administration functions. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate music fan to learn about music industry economics and the inner workings of a major record label, while interacting with colleagues at all levels across departments within the organization.
What you'll do:- Handle day to day administrative duties including but not limited to managing executive calendar, scheduling meetings, arranging business travel, preparing expense reports, initiating new vendor set-up requests, creating PO's and processing invoices for payment, ordering supplies, initiating purchase and work requests, maintaining department vacation calendar and logging staff timesheet information, administering internal company email group distribution lists, and facilitating on-boarding of new employees
- Serve as business unit liaison with various corporate departments including Accounts Payable, Facilities, IS&T, Procurement, Telecommunications, and Travel, and partner closely with other executive offices within the label to address day to day operational needs
- Support the annual budgeting and monthly financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting processes via maintenance of queries to retrieve data from various internal & external systems, assisting with update of month-end p&l models, researching of general ledger activity to analyze account balances and reconcile transaction detail, preparation of journal entries, and maintenance of reports and datasets for revenue, market share and marketing spend analysis
- Assist in creation of financial presentations that highlight business unit performance versus internal KPI's and industry benchmarks
- Assist in research/review of artist recording agreements for marketing commitment and recoupable marketing terms to verify appropriate accounting
- Provide support for ad hoc special projects in areas such as pricing and product mix analysis, predictive analytics/forecast model building, marketing ROI analysis, and financial dashboard development
- Support business development efforts by researching trends in media, entertainment and consumer technology; Identify target business partners and make initial outreach as appropriate to arrange meetings with label business development staff
- You have (or are pursing) an Accounting or Finance degree, with relevant internship and at least 1 year of assistant level full-time work experience
- You have a solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and eager to quickly learn proprietary company software and other applications
- You have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals at all levels both inside and outside of the company in a professional manner
- You are well-organized and detail-oriented with ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and adapt quickly to shifting priorities to meet deadlines on a timely basis
