Motorcycle Technician- Bay Area
- Diagnose, repair and maintain motorcycles in accordance with OEM and SoSo Cycles standards.
- Attain and promote standards for superior workmanship.
- Help maintain an exceptional retail and service environment for all clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform work as described on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with OEM and SoSo Cycles standards.
- Diagnose the cause of malfunctions, and recommend/perform appropriate repairs.
- Examine motorcycle to identify necessary repair or maintenance items that may not be included on the repair order, and communicate additional repairs needed to Service Advisor(s).
- Whenever possible, personally perform 'come-back' repairs for motorcycles that were insufficiently repaired during previous visits to the service department.
- Utilize parts fiche, repair manuals and other applicable resources to determine tools and parts required to perform repairs and services.
- Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain needed parts and parts quotes.
- Notify Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined on repair order is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed by the time promised.
- Clearly and accurately document all work performed with time punches and notes as per OEM guidelines and best practices.
- Road test motorcycles as required, or refer to the inspection technician as appropriate. All road tests should be performed professionally, prioritizing, complaint has been corrected, all system operations are normal or suggested repairs noted, and with full attention paid to the safety of the rider and motorcycle.
- Attend and successfully complete training as required by OEM’s and SoSo Cycles. Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins. It is the responsibility of all technicians to maintain their own bulletin binder or log to be referenced as needed.
- Follow warranty material disposition procedures. Save and tag parts of the job if requested by the customer. No used parts are to be removed from premises without authorization from Management. No parts may be removed for resale.
- Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
- Account for all dealership-owned tools at all times. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received. Notify Management of any lost, broken, missing or needed tools.
- Meet all requirements of state and federal law dealing with motorcycle repair and consumer protection.
- Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned. Report progress of apprentice technician to supervisor on regular basis.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as a technical resource for other team members and customers if and when needed. It is expected that non-technician staff members will exhaust all other sources of information before asking for assistance from a technician, but all questions are to be answered if within the scope of technician’s knowledge.
- Work as a team always, when necessary, collaborating to properly diagnose and repair motorcycles.
- Adhere to all codes of conduct and policies outlined within the Motorrad LLC Employee Handbook
- Wear uniforms when provided and appropriate work related clothing (as defined by management) at all times.
