As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support the orthopedic surgeon and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history in patient chart
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Arrange medical imaging including obtaining insurance preauthorization
- Assist during medical examinations
- Collect copays
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Preauthorize surgery/procedures with different insurances (including WA Labor & Industries)
- Schedule surgery with several different surgery centers and hospitals
- Take patient phone calls and communicate with the physician as needed to answer their questions
- Familiarize with and master EPIC for finding various information (previous medical history, relevant visit notes, ordering and viewing imaging).
- Familiarize with and master the intricacies of clinic EMR system (Modernizing Medicine) used for different purposes (faxes, collecting patient data, orders, etc).
- Stock and manage necessary supplies (gauze, cortisone, band-aids, coban, etc).

You will assist in the formulation of the medical or surgical plan and then keep track of the plan’s execution and patient’s progress while making sure that nothing “slips through the cracks.”

We would support and encourage you to obtain a surgical technician licence (surgical assist) and participate in surgeries.
We are in clinic Tuesday - Thursday and you would work remotely on Mondays and Fridays (administrative) unless in the operating room. Requires your own transportation due to different clinic and operating room locations.

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
