Sounds True, founded in 1985, is a multimedia publisher specializing in spirituality, holistic living, and transformational learning. We are seeking a full-time Publicity Assistant to join our team.
The Publicity Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting the Publicity Director and Publicity Manager with support for frontlist and backlist titles, as well as media relations and author relations. This role collaborates closely with all key stakeholders on publicity and events and interacts on a regular basis with in-house teams including Sales, Marketing, Editorial and Creative.
Responsibilities:
- Support the publicity team and PR campaigns for approximately 50 titles published per year
- Act as administrative support for the Publicity Director
- Write & design press materials and manage time-sensitive publicity mailings
- Coordinate author events/appearances, including author travel and bookstore communication
- Research and update media contacts
- Communicate effectively and professionally with authors and in-house teams, including editorial, publicity, marketing, sales, and creative
- Insert publicity plans & media pull quotes for salesforce
- Manage multiple high-level campaigns and authors
- Collaborate closely with all teams to provide weekly publicity updates; event grids
Recommended Skills/Qualifications/Job Requirements:
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- 1-year experience in publishing or publicity preferred
- Genuine interest and understanding of publishing and the mind-body-spirit category
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Evening and weekend work may sometimes be required

This role is open to fully remote candidates. The compensation range for this position is $42,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year, depending on experience.
