SBLC provides functional literacy and life skills training, in addition to career preparation services, to residents in the Baltimore region.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Grants and Development Manager (GDM) is responsible for writing grant proposals, ranging in size, scope, and complexity, to a wide range of public and private external funding agencies and organizations, such as foundations, corporations, government, and other institutions. The GDM will support budget development, prepare grant reports, and manage the grants tracking process. This position will also engage in other development writing projects related to strengthening SBLC’s fundraising capacity.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute an annual comprehensive development plan, with targeted goals, objectives, methods, quantifiable outcomes, and timelines which will achieve budgeted goals.
  • Work collaboratively with Board members, SBLC staff, community members, funders, and other key constituents through cultivation efforts.
  • Support the writing and submission of state and federal grant proposals.
  • Actively engage in ongoing prospect research that identifies funding opportunities that offer a favorable return on investment and advance strategic priorities.
  • Develop and monitor annual fund budget with realistic revenue and expense projections.
  • Manage gift processing and donor acknowledgement, donor database, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Marketing & Communications Director to develop multi-channel written content for development campaigns and events to increase individual giving.
  • Attend in-person meetings upon request and as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND TALENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least five years of experience in fund development with proven success in raising private funding for nonprofit service sector. Grant writing experience highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Baltimore City population, literacy and community initiatives, and State funding sources.
  • Exceptional people skills, oral and written communication, and attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence is critical.
  • Must be high energy, outgoing, a collaborator, and passionate about SBLC’s mission.
  • Working knowledge of development best practices, fundraising tools and technology, including donor databases, email, and online campaigns, and donor research.
  • Working mastery of computer programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and familiarity with Donor Perfect and Salesforce preferred.
  • Must be able to attend in-person meetings upon request and as needed.

HOURS, COMPENSATION, AND BENEFITS

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

The successful candidate will receive an hourly wage, Sick Leave, and the option of working remotely. This position is 20 hours a week.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job onsite, the noise level is typically moderate.
