Teacher on Special Assignment - ALS

JOB CHARACTERISTICS: The major function is to provide leadership and assistance to the Adaptive Life Skills Program and its administration.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS;Assist in the development of workshops and trainings.Conduct selected workshops and trainings.Assist in the training of teachers on the South Coast in the Special Education Computer Records System.Represent Adaptive Life Skills on selected committees and ALS Teams.Conduct Substitute Instructional Assistant trainings.Complete evaluations of referred students.Provide classroom and teacher supports as needed.Assists with curriculum development for individual students.Supportive of programs for persons with disabilities and other special education services to the community when appropriate.Provides for the safety and wellbeing of students.Attends meetings as assigned.Treats students with courtesy and personal dignity.Maintains open communication with teachers, students and parents or guardians.Researches and facilitates opportunities to integrate individuals with disabilities into the adult community of work, housing, services, businesses, and post-secondary education.Establish social support systems that can be maintained when students educational entitlement is finished.Works harmoniously with other employees and deals tactfully with the public.Works with program staff to build strong teams; acts with consideration of the effect of his/her actions on the program and on the ESD as a whole.Maintains confidentiality of student records and of ESD staff, and complies with state and federal regulations regarding privacy.Maintains regular attendance in order to preserve the continuity of service delivery for the program.Meets standards for competent and ethical performance as outlined in OAR 584-20-005-035.Adheres to safety standards.Performs the duties of the Mandatory Reporters according to ORS 419B.005-ORS 419B.045.Will adhere to the established ESD mission and values.Will promote and support the ESD through positive communication.Will complete and utilize the OIS system.Actively participate in home district building meetings and activities.Follow home district policies and procedures.Performs duties in a manner reasonably expected and generally recognized by the profession.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Administrator, Director of Adaptive Life Skills, and Superintendent.QUALIFICATIONS (Essential Functions): Experience with students with severe disabilities.Ability to travel.Demonstrates ability to deal with staff, students, and the public in an effective manner and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.Demonstrates ability to respect confidential information.Hold a current first aid card and CPR card.Demonstrates ability to design and to implement instruction in critical functional skills.Demonstrates ability to work with community partners to meet students needs.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 1.Master's Degree in appropriate field.2. Valid Oregon teaching certificate In Special Education
